Aqueduct

Entry for the Godot Wild Jam #58 with the theme Rain or Shrine. In this puzzle game you must connect the aqueducts to get the rain water to the shrine. Difficulty increases as you play. Each level is procedurally generated. The game has no ending, play as long as you are enjoying it. :)

Controls

  • Click to rotate pieces. Right click to rotate them the opposite direction.
  • You can click and drag to rotate the camera or use WASD or the arrow keys.

Note

Certain puzzles seem to not be able to detect completion due to a bug. It was very seldom that I ran into this, and thought it was related to right click rotations, but that seems not to be the case. If this occurs you can go back to the main menu and hit play again.

This is a solid game, if I were to suggest improvements, it'd be a level select screen and the ability to replay any level that isn't 3 stars rather than any level that is 1 star or lower. I ran into some issues where I swore I didn't right click a straight piece and I had to left click a bunch of pieces to get the level completion to be recognized.

Someone said the same thing about levels that couldn't complete. It must not be the right click, it must be some other bug.

I am really glad you enjoyed the game! A level select screen is a great idea. Thank you!

I love the aesthetics and the puzzle concept, but there's something more fundamental about detecting completed setups than right-clicking straight pieces; I put it into the position above without right-clicking anything and, as you can see, it didn't think it was complete.

That is super interesting. I spent a good bit of time trying to nail down why it wasn't detecting a completed path occasionally and thought it only occurred with right clicks, but now I am doubting that. It happened so rarely for me and I ran out of time investigating so I left it.

I should note it happened to me a couple of times, or rather on two different grids it happened consistently  After the first time, I saw the right-click thing, so I exited to the menu and hit play again, just to make sure I wasn't right-clicking a straight edge.  But yeah, on the level I screenshot, rotating the curve in the lower right so that it connects directly from the raincloud to the fountain triggers the "level complete" animation, but restarting and putting it back into this configuration fails each time.

All of which I say only in case it helps you debug it.  I can't make games at all, and I know game jams have added pressure, so color me impressed by what you've got!

Beautiful game, and so well polished. Just wish I could zoom in with the mouse to get a better look! Good luck for the jam!

Hey SporkTank! Glad you enjoyed the game!! Zoom went through my mind at one point and then I forgot about it. ðŸ˜… Great suggestion.
